History Of Art & Design .
Raphael Lacoste the
Art director
of Assassin's Creed Revelations.
The Assassin's Creed Revelations concept art. Raphael here shows his talent when using his personal Graphics Tablet. Raphael's aim was to produce a masterpiece of discipline & fine art, he wanted his work to be not just to attract but to give that message of a powerful feel, he wanted the game to be super exciting.
Introducing Raphael's challenge.
Raphael's challenge in his first Assassin's Creed, was to create a new brand a fresh brand. Raphael had in mind a new Prologue, he was interested in Graphics (Bold) & an Original Style. This designer wanted to separate from the Italian era, he was included even in the Assassin's Creed 2 & Assassins Creed Brotherhood.. so he wanted something Exotic. Raphael and his team Inspired themselves from Orientalist Painters such as Ivan Aivazovski & Fabius Brest.
Raphael inspired himself from these two artists as i spoke about before, that their paintings are an influence to the game concept art.
It's all about the Detail .
Raphael as listed included the word ' .. we paid lot of attention to detail.. '
From reality to the game.
Raphael said ' we wanted something for the people to find this something memorable' '
'Constantinople was built on seven hills, we were able to make the most of the differences in elevation and the interesting contrasts the offer to create the various minarets and domes half hidden in the mists giving a new, oriental feel to things.'

Topkapi palace .
Topkapi palace was the main residence of the sultans and the nerve center of decision-making for the Ottoman empire.
Topkapi Sultan Party.. This artistic subject is a fine art, drawn by Raphael.. this place is the same one as the above.
There aren't any differences, past and revived the place into a game.

Starting with the Architectural Design.. Raphael and his team selected a variety of illustrations that clearly show how they managed to define their style that they wanted, (from simple houses to the horizon) and obviously they chose the city's particular atmosphere. They chose main points for art :
Characters... Detail has a great aspect when introducing the characters.. 'We really wanted the characters in our game to reflect the richness, depth and variety of culture of Constantinople, the crossroads of the world. ' Raphael in fact for more advanced research they gathered material from museums and history books.

Development from past to contemporary influences .
Patterns from past to contemporary.
As listed above I included pictures (Patterns) that are located inside the game props, for example : the sword, pattern on wall, architectural design..
Listed beyond I included an inspirational source for today's designs, Ralph Lauren Polo for example took the idea from the games pattern, so as you see how art evolve through era's.

Byzantine.
Inside the game Raphael and his team included more weaponry, weaponry that are a subject towards : Byzantine. Weapons of the Ottoman Empire, with their beautiful curves, unique designs and embroidery are very iconic, and they wanted to show them off in their full glory. As always, their designs are based on the authentic 16th Century Ottoman weapons that can be found in museums today.
